ETG North America Acquires an Edible Beans Processing Facility in Manitoba

March 15, 2021 | Plum Coulee, MB

ETG North America, the North American subsidiary of Export Trading Group (ETG), has acquired the bean processing facility and related production assets from Globeway’s Canada in Plum Coulee, Manitoba. We are excited to expand our geographic footprint in Manitoba by adding an edible bean processing facility. "The Plum Coulee facility will support ETG North America’s growth and leadership in the rapidly expanding market for dry edible beans,” says Rav Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer of ETG North America. The acquisition further strengthens ETG as a global leader in pulse and specialty crops processing and bolsters the company’s processing capacity for dry edible beans to facilitate added growth in its key markets.

The addition provides ETG North America with processing capacity for dry beans by diversifying its pulses portfolio, as well as strengthen its farm-level partners across the region. The facility will enable efficient product processing and distribution across the world, helping buyers to meet fast-growing demand for edible beans. According to ETG North America’s Chief Executive Officer, Rav Kapoor, “This acquisition brings a lot of synergy to our existing global supply chain network and as a result, we’ll be able to offer a diversified portfolio of products to our existing customers. We will be further investing and upgrading the facility to maintain the high standard of quality and service our customers expect. It marks an important milestone in our pursuit to connect local Canadian farming communities to global markets.”

The Plum Coulee facility is capable of sourcing and processing coloured edible beans including: Pinto Beans, Black Beans, Navy Beans, Great Northern Beans, White Kidney Beans, Light Red Kidney Beans, Dark Red Kidney Beans and Cranberry Beans. Strategically located in the heart of the Southern Manitoba bean growing area near major railroads and highways with versatile loading capabilities.

ETG North America has continued expanding its footprint since its inception in 2012. The added capacity in edible beans combined with new key customer and grower relationships will allow the business to accommodate additional growth in the coming years.
