ETG Commodities B.V., the Dutch subsidiary of ETC Group (ETG) announced today that they have acquired 100% of the shares of Ibericafé import S.L., an independent importer of coffee to the Spanish and Portuguese market. ETG, a global conglomerate with a footprint across multiple industries, and Ibericafé entered a strategic partnership in 2020 with an objective of combining Ibericafé’s extensive Spanish and Portuguese marketing network with ETG’s origination and supply chain management in Africa and Asia. The acquisition of Ibericafé represents a further step in creating synergies between both parties.
Distribution of coffee in the Spanish and Portuguese markets will be done under the brand name
“Ibericafé by ETG”
The addition of Ibericafé to the ETG group is a perfect fit. ETG Coffee Desk has significantly grown their origination network across the African and Asian markets, allowing Ibericafé the ability to serve the full pallet of clients in the Spanish and Portuguese market.
Freddie Schol, Global Head of Coffee at ETG, said: “After a successful period getting to know the team, I’m delighted we managed to bring Ibericafé under the ETG umbrella. This is a next exiting step for ETG Coffee bringing us closer to the roaster community in Spain and Portugal. Looking forward to work closely together with the Ibericafé team.”
“After an exciting ten years on our own we are delighted to be joining ETG. The opportunity to become integrated in an international enterprise like ETG will boost Ibericafé into bigger and daring challenges in the World of Coffee. Our Work. Our passion,” said Juan Rubio, Managing Director of Ibericafé.
ETG is enthused to welcome Ibericafé and look forward to continued efforts to transcend limitations and making a positive impact across the coffee supply chain.
