BEYOND BEANS

FOUNDATION

Beyond Beans Foundation builds sustainability programs in ETG’s commodity supply chains in collaboration with partner companies, NGOs and government agencies. The Foundation works in cashew, cocoa, and coffee supply chains across Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Ghana, Nigeria and Togo with a strong focus on innovation in community development, addressing child labour and environmental solutions, reaching more than 100,000 smallholder farmers.

Beyond Beans has developed tailored village savings and loan association (VSLA) modules to help remediate child labour in cocoa, introduced improved cookstoves in Côte d’Ivoire to improve health and reduce environmental degradation, and pioneered Payment for Ecosystem Solutions (PES), an innovative approach to nature conservation in West Africa.

EMPOWERING FARMERS

FOUNDATION

Empowering Farmers Foundation (EFF) is ETG’s preferred development partner. Established in 2013, Empowering Farmers Foundation works to catalyse change in agricultural communities in Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique and Kenya by empowering small-scale farmers through climate-smart programs geared to increase productivity and agricultural skills, living income, food security, and effective market linkage.

Over the last decade, Empowering Farmers Foundation has reached over 100,000 farming families in diverse value chains encompassing cash crops like robusta coffee and sugarcane, vital staples such as finger millet and rice, as well as valuable tree nuts, pulses, oilseeds, and legumes. Through all its projects the Foundation aims to establish sustainable systems that outlive the duration of the interventions, which are typically funded by international donors and have a 3-year lifecycle.

Empowering Farmers Foundation collaborates closely with ETG’s Sustainability Team and ETG Climate Solutions, with whom it co-designs and implements projects to support the Groups sustainability agenda. Together, there is a vision for a future where agricultural communities in sub-Saharan Africa not only survive but thrive, and small-scale producers can enjoy dignity and prosperity.
